Shake It Records Poster House Guests Bootsy Collins

In celebration of the release, Shake It! will present a live set by the IU Soul Revue Band, including original House Guests members vocalist Rufus Allen and drummer Frankie “Kash” Waddy.

The event’s also a celebration of Bootsy Collins’ 66th birthday; although Collins isn’t performing, he’ll be in attendance as his performances are featured on this special release. The new album will be played in its entirety throughout the evening, as a sneak peak; shortly after, it’s being sent off to be pressed to vinyl.

Shake It’s highly coveted reissues and compilations have included genre-spanning releases from such local/regional obscurities as The Reduced, Sacred Mushroom, Hasil Adkins, Jade and more. Darren Blase of Shake It! also co-founded the Cincinnati USA Music Heritage Foundation, which officially started when Bootsy and the original JB’s reunited a year after Mr. James Brown passed.

This event is free, beginning at 7pm and wrapping up around 9. The new record can be pre-ordered at Shake It then! Come be a part of Cincinnati funk history and secure your copy before these rare gems go out of print once again.
