Bringing Music and Messages to the World

Dada was born in New York City in 1946 and after completing his college education in 1968, he hitch-hiked to California where he met an Indian monk who taught him meditation. Starting in 1977, Dada worked abroad, teaching meditation and yoga, doing social work and singing in more than 50 countries. For the past ten years he has been back in the U.S. and is currently based in Urbana where he is the resident teacher at the Ananda Liina Yoga and Meditation Center.

Although Dada has been playing the guitar and singing since 1966, it was only in the past 15 years that he tried his hand at composing his own songs Since 2003 he has released seven CDs and has performed in venues spanning Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Central America, South America and the USA.

“Spiritually inspired, globally-tinged folk and Americana music” is how New Renaissance magazine described his music, and a reviewer at All Access magazine added “Like Dylan, Dada Veda gives voice to enduring issues.”

Country-Eastern Folk, on Mission from God

Dada’s current “Mission From God” tour is aimed at raising funds for The Abha Memorial Hospital in Calcutta, India. “Like the Blues Brothers, I am trying to help a little nun do some noble and charitable work,” Dada said. Profits from the tour will be donated to the hospital which serves “the poorest of the poor.”

Dada’s songs are acoustic folk songs. His style has been compared to Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger and George Harrison, and one listener dubbed his blend “Country and Eastern Music.”
